Check it out, I'm featured on the Soft clothing blog!
I love the idea for this kids clothing line and can hardly wait for it to go live. In the meantime the proprietors are expanding their online service to the autism and sensory-sensitivity community by profiling bloggers on the subject. And so there I am. Thanks for the nod!

Just found your blog and I have a quick question for you (off the subject--sorry). A friend told me that NY schools cannot label a child with "autism" unless a diagnosis has been made by an outside MD. Is this true?
Hi Anonymous... I don't know for sure, but I bet your friend is right, because the piece of prescription paper with the doctor's info on it where she'd written my son's dx of PDD was really important when we were making the switch from preschool to public school.
I find this fascinating. Where I live (Virginia), the school is absolutely allowed to "diagnose" a child with an ASD. In fact, the school always does their own "study" of the child, even if he already has a medical diagnosis. The school can even attempt to disagree with the MD. I wonder how many states do it this way and how many do it the NY way. This difference could explain quite a lot about autism rates nationwide.
